I seen them drag you screaming

Stairway to somewhere.

* 5 Musical Genres Overdue for a Comeback.

  1. Barbershop. I don't think anyone ever told Springfield this music went away.
  2. Disco. Let's hope it doesn't make a comeback any time soon.
  3. Bossa Nova. I have no idea.
  4. Outlaw country. Can I get a hells to the yeah?
  5. Skiffle. I had never heard of skiffle, but I have heard most of the songs in that video in some form or another.

You may not be ready for those music genres to make a comeback, but they're ready. Or maybe they already have made a comeback. On your Hi-Fi. In your grandma's basement.

* That reminds me of the time.... I remember it like it was just yesterday.... I saw Kris Kristofferson, Emmy Lou Harris, Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter in concert at a little thing called Chicago Fest at place called Navy Pier. Chicago Fest hasn't existed for decades. And this was when Navy Pier was really just a pier, and except for maybe the stray submarine, hadn't been in active use by the Navy in years -- not all dolled up like it is now. So this concert was a real long time ago.

Anyway, they billed themselves as The Outlaws. I think. If I remember correctly, they played at the far end of pier in a rather large shelter. The stage consisted of your basic sheets of plywood on concrete blocks. Yeah. The audience sat on metal folding chairs. Speaking of the audience, there was room for hundreds, and there should have been thousands, but there were only about two or three dozen in attendance. Unbelievable, I know. They played Friday and Saturday night and I went both nights. Alone. That's right. None of my city slicker friends would go. And what a shame for them.

What else can I say? Oh yeah, both concerts were amazing and fantastic, and had they played another night, I would have gone then, too.

* Down the hallways of your brain.
