He don't go in the light of the morning

The sun is starting to show a little more of itself each day, now. This was yesterday.

* The Illinois legislature and governor know what they can do, and what they cannot do, to rectify the public employee pension situation. They know the problem. The know the Illinois constitution. They know that the solution must fit within the constitution, which governs said pensions. Unfortunately, for the employees and the taxpayers, they don't have the guts to do what needs to be done. So they do this: “Base closing” style commission proposed to deal with pension laws. This reeks of super committee.

* Photo of the day (scroll all the way down).

* Secret message for someone who's hurting: The bad thing? It's only bad to you. Sorry to be cliche, but it's true: This, too, shall pass.

* He split the time the cock'rel crows. Talkin' about the midnight gambler.
