Illinois Supreme Court Building on a cold and rainy day. There have been many times when I lugged 20 to 40 pounds of paper in the form of court briefs up those stairs. Fortunately, I was always able to get a close parking spot. If I had to walk any farther carrying that much paper, I don't think I would have made it.

* As part of the Capitol Avenue beautification project, they're going to take out about 25 on-street, metered parking spaces in front of the Illinois Supreme Court Building. The removal of these spots will cause a major hardship for citizens coming from all over the state to see and hear their case argued before the Supreme Court. Well, I guess they park in the parking ramp about two blocks down the street.

* The sad and scary and haunting story of one man's fate, as he was caught between the criminal justice system and the mental health system: No room at the inn.

* Women in combat. (Note: The colonel's people are our people, so be nice.)

* The enemy is listening.

* 'Filthy 13' leader, model for 'Dirty Dozen,' dies in Chatham. He straightened himself out.

* One of Springfield's hidden gems: Illinois State Military Museum.
