Woke up to the sound of thunder. Drove to work in the rain. Drove home in the rain. It's been raining all day. It's still raining.
I'm not complaining. We need it. I'm just glad it's not snow, or worse, ice.
* New York Times: Who made that military dog tag?
* Amazing photographs of 1960s Afghanistan. Such beauty. Such promise. Before 33 years of war. From the 7th slide:
Afghan girls coming home from school. "Afghan girls, as well as boys, were educated up to the high school level, and although girls (and boys) wore uniforms, the girls were not allowed to wear a chadri (burka) on their way to secondary school. Able young women attended college, as did the men."
I want to know what those girls are doing now. (Thank you, Marilyn.)
