* In case anyone was wondering, I'm still waiting for my identity to be verified by healthcare.gov. Briefly, I spoke to Experian and gave them the number I was assigned by healthcare.gov. But, they didn't have it in their system.

I called the number at the bottom of the letter and spoke to a really nice young man. Unfortunately, he didn't have access to anything more than I had access to. However, he did make the determination that my case deserved to be kicked up to the "Advance Resolution Center." He said they would call me within two to five business days. I gave him my cell phone number and told him they could call any time of the day or night. So far, no one has called. That was on November 5, 2013.

On November 7, I checked the web site and noticed that, in red, my identity "wasn't verified." Well, at least someone looked at my account, I thought. So, I started the process to order a copy of my birth certificate.

Then, a few days after that, I checked the web site and noticed my status had gone back to "Identity verification pending." Unbelievable!

I tried uploading my birth certificate, but in the case of using your birth certificate, you have to give them another form of identification. When I tried to do that, the web site sent me back to the beginning of the registration process. By this time, I was ready to throw in the towel, give up on ever getting health insurance and just take the penalty.

But, I decided to try it again on November 25. I uploaded my birth certificate, but it wouldn't let me upload a second document. It sent me back to the beginning, again. I did get this message with the poorly formed sentence, which may have been there the entire time, but I just noticed it:

Obviously, someone didn't put a lot of thought it that.
