* Springfield Sports Hall of Fame 2014 inductee: Rose Folder Powell made mark on baseball diamond.

The 87-year-old Powell played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, an organization made famous in the 1992 movie “A League of Their Own.”
Powell, a 1944 Feitshans High School graduate, was a trailblazer in baseball growing up as Rose Folder in the Cabbage Patch neighborhood of Springfield.

My mom went all through school with her. Congratulations, Rose. You were always a hero in our house.
