In the end you'll still be you

When I first blogged this sign in June of 2011, I couldn't find anything on the web or the State of Illinois web site about this LESO office. It's up, now:

While the property is provided by the Federal government FREE to agencies, LEAs in Illinois pay an annual (12-month) Membership Fee as found on Page 11 of the “State Plan” to defray costs of administering the program. Fees are based on the number of sworn officers employed by your agency:
1-5 Officers: $150.00 * 6-15 Officers $300.00 * 16-35 Officers $400.00 * 36-50 Officers $600.00 * 51-199 Officers $900.00 * 200 or more Officers Negotiable

* Chicago Channel 7: Widespread militarization of Illinois police forces uncovered by I-Team.

* For the last several days I, along with the rest of the country, have been glued to the events in Ferguson, Missouri, as they unfolded in real time on Twitter. The militarization of local law enforcement and its effect on the citizens has been been very fascinating to watch. And horrifying. Who in law enforcement thought this was a good idea? Because what, cheap or free stuff from the Government? Good, rock solid policy decisions have to be about more than that. Please, let us make about more than that.

* Twitter: Ferguson, Missouri.

* Watch Twitter explode along with Ferguson.

* Police Militarization in Ferguson — and Your Town.

* This Is The Terrifying Result Of The Militarization Of Police.

* Throughout it all, let's not forget the family and friends of Michael Brown are grieving and hurting.

* One that's done all the things you set out to do. Stand!
