Back to me

Wheat sculpture. Statehouse. Signs.

* Good that Gov. Rauner wants comprehensive immigration reform. We all do. Definitely. I'm just looking forward to seeing how, exactly, he will "Push my friends in Congress": "We need to pass comprehensive reform in 2015, not 2016. I will push my friends in Congress" @GovRauner.

* Adding later: Rauner's immigration message leaves advocates perplexed:

More than two months after taking the reins of one of the nation's most immigrant-friendly states, Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner has offered mixed signals about his stance on immigration.
He's publicly backed "comprehensive reform" and tells stories of his Swedish dairyman grandfather's immigration, but he rescinded executive orders aimed at making the state more welcoming to immigrants. He refused to join other GOP governors in a lawsuit against President Barack Obama's executive action on immigration, but he proposed slashing roughly $8 million in services to help refugees and immigrants who want citizenship.

* Photo: Clad in his leather chaps and vest, Gov. Bruce Rauner signs in at the Canaryville Veterans Riders meeting on Friday.

* February letter from the Canaryville Veterans Riders Association to Governor Rauner: We request the return of our patches that we honorably bestowed upon you:

It seems big businesses can spend millions of dollars to buy politicians and their votes so they can skirt rules and regulations while working class people, Union or not, only have one voice in the political arena and that is organized labor.

Read the whole thing, please. I don't think he got the letter.

* Time is on my side, yes it is...
